Our Mission

To stimulate economic development and vitality in the Lakeshore region by facilitating the formation and sustained growth of companies serving Michigan’s developing bioeconomy. Support the broader mission of MSU and help ensure the overall success of the Bioeconomy Institute.

The BioBusiness Accelerator is specifically tasked to serve a role in the recruitment, formation, incubation and development of small biotechnology businesses that become clients of the Institute.

This will be accomplished, in part, by:

Promoting and brokering opportunities for outside organizations to lease space and contract for the use of equipment and resources at the Institute.

Providing resources, expertise, and programs that will accelerate the growth and enhance the success of resident entrepreneurial companies.

Catalyzing collaborations and creating venues for great ideas to connect with resources within the community.

Helping to develop a better understanding of the “bioeconomy” within our communities, and to create a vision of the benefits and opportunities that might be achieved through the activities of the BioBusiness Accelerator.

The BioBusiness Accelerator is an initiative of Lakeshore Advantage, the region’s economic development resource, who played a key role in brokering the donation of a former Pfizer pharmaceutical R&D facility in Holland, MI to Michigan State University, and securing an opportunity for the region to benefit from this unique resource.
